MariaElaina Sumas, MD

 

 Dr. Sumas is a Board Certified by the American Board of Neurological Surgeons.  She graduated from Georgetown University School of Medicine in Washington, D.C.  She began  her Neurological Surgery training at Eastern Virginia Graduate School of Medicine in Norfolk, VA, completing her residency training at Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia, PA where she received her fellowship training in Complex Spinal Surgery.

I was referred to Dr. Sumas by my family physician  after I received the diagnosis of a herniated lumbar disc sustained in California while testing for my 5th Degree Black Belt.

 

 

I booked my appointment with her staff who were very professional and courteous on the phone.  I was able to see Dr. Sumas within a 24 hr time frame.  I found Dr. Sumas to be very professional and empathetic towards me. She did a very through examination, recommending a treatment plan which involved consecutive appointments. The staff made all my appointments per my schedule, in a timely and professional manner, following up with calls just to see how I am doing. I have been treated with the utmost respect and couldn't ask for better treatment as a patient. I would highly recommend Dr. Sumas to anybody that has any neurological concerns or has problems with their back as I did.  I trust Dr. Sumas with my care and as a professional Martial Artist I believe because of her my full mobility and strength will return as my treatment continues.
